For some people finding foundations on the high street is a sure fire thing, it's as simple as buying a snack from Tesco but for others - namely porcelain skinned and brown skinned beauties, trying to find a foundation on the high street is a challenge often met with failure.
One day I will have my full on rant about the lack of foundation shades for brown skin, it is actually appalling and insulting but for this post I'll focus on the positives.
Cue three new foundations that I managed to find on the high street for deeper skin tones..
It's a sloooooow walk to convince companies to include a wider range of shades but until then you can do no harm in investing in great quality make-up brands such as Bobbi Brown, Lancome, Estee Lauder and Make Up For Ever.
H&M's new beauty range has really impressed me, from the prices to pigmentation, it's been an all round thumbs up from me so far!
Ebony is the darkest shade in the foundation range from H&M Beauty.
In regards to this foundation I cannot give you a full review just yet as I've only worn this to swatch but I can say this is a decent foundation for every day wear.
Sheer to medium coverage with a semi matte finish.
I find this works pretty well on my skin tone but it does run a little red which is expected from deeper foundations.
I will come back to the blog with a more in depth review for you guys very soon.
This really surprised me because I was convinced Max Factor had no idea PoC existed!
Imagine my face when I saw Tawny in Boots, I swatched and the colour blended into my skin perfectly but that's not always something to go by.
Anyway long story short, this is a good buy for a glowy everyday foundation.
Sheer to light medium coverage, Tawny (which is a yellow based foundation) has tiny golden flecks to give that natural glow from within.
What's even more shocking is that Tawny is not the deepest shade Max Factor offer in the Miracle Touch Foundation, I stumbled across Sun Tan which seems to be the deepest shade, you can see my swatch of both Tawny and Sun Tan HERE.
You can also see me wearing Tawny HERE.
The most expensive of the three comes from The Body Shop and their new Fresh Nude foundation.
The newly released foundation comes in around 7 medium to deep shades with Caribbean Mahogany being the second to last shade, Tuscany Chestnut being the darkest, you can see Tuscany Chestnut being worn by the stunning Christine HERE.
Another one with sheer to light medium coverage perfect for everyday wear.
I find Caribbean Mahogany a bit too red for me which is a bit annoying as it looks perfect in the bottle, it also seems to show up texture on my skin, it's very weird.
I will try it again and see how I feel but for now I'm not the greatest fan but maybe I just need to use the right primer.
Of course you can also shop at Sleek who cater to deep/dark skin tones with a number of bases.
Have I missed any out?
Let me know!

I still am!! So impressed with Max Factor as I had previously written them off! Def look into Body Shop, they also have a shade adjuster if you need to go darker or lighter!
DeleteRimmel Lahndan, FINALLY have a couple of deeper shades.
ReplyDeleteAhaaa! I know right! Finally! I did swatch the deeper shades, still heavily red with the undertone unfortunately!
DeleteI'm surprised about Max Factor too! Perhaps its because Pat McGrath is their ambassador that they decided to incorporate more shade in their foundation spectrum (?). I think I'll give one of them a whirl (looked great in the video) thanks for posting about it!
ReplyDeleteI say I'm surprised but maybe 2 years back I saw a YouTuber using the shade Sun Tan and I've been on the hunt for it ever since but could never find it, I think there were only a few released or available in stores. So good to see the two darker shades more widely available now!
