L-R: Venus, Shell, Aura, Creation, Icon, Rebirth, Divine, Muse
What can you say about Lime Crime that hasn't  been said already eh?

Yes, there is a lot of controversy around this brand but I cannot deny that they make great products.

The Venus Palette | £24.50 is what I would describe as the ultimate warm grunge palette, containing a gorgeous array of colours from deep warm reds, to pretty shell pinks.

I can honestly say I've never seen a palette like this around, but I knew I had to have it after seeing swatches of it on dark skin.

The Venus Palette contains 8 complimentary eye shadows described as the following:

VENUS: The colour of bruised fruit (velvet matte)
SHELL: Opalescent shell-pink (glow)
AURA: Golden Ivory (glow)
CREATION: Rust brown (matte)
ICON: Dirt brown (matte)
REBIRTH: The colour of an over-ripe nectarine (matte)
DIVINE: Dusty stone (matte)
MUSE: Deep burgundy red (matte)

This palette contains more mattes than shimmers (glows) so perfect for the matte shadow lovers out there but their glows do pack a punch and are obviously perfect for lid shades as well as inner tear duct highlight, with Aura also working well as a brow bone highlight.

My favourite shadows in this palette has be Shell, Creation and Muse.

Shell has the most gorgeous opalescent shine with a slight duochrome which gives you a peachy pink colour depending on the light. A dupe for this I would say would be Makeup Geek's Duo Chrome Eye Shadow in  Mai Tai

Creation is a warm red based matte brown which works perfectly as a transitional shade for my skin tone.

Muse is the most gorgeous red I have ever seen and has an impressive level of pigment.
A deep burgundy red that grunges up any look! Just use a light hand with this one because it's easy to go overboard.

The most disappointing shade out of this palette has to be Icon.
Surprisingly it is very dry and chalky which affects it's pigmentation. It really doesn't offer up much as a dark matte, which sucks as a dark matte is always needed to smoke up a look.

With that being said I can say I really really like this palette.

With it's unique combination of "packing a punch" shades (minus Icon) and it's packaging (I mean, c'mon!) it's hard not to love this palette.

I've used this palette a few times now, HERE, HERE and see it action HERE and I know I'll be using it a lot more!

If you're not a fan of  Lime Crime but you love these shades, try picking up the Makeup Revolution New-trals vs Neutrals Palettes | £6.99 as there are some great dupes in there and obvs, it's more pocket friendly.

Stay tuned to the blog and my YouTube for more looks with this palette.

  2. I really like this palette. I've only managed to use it once so far but I was pleasantly surprised. I was more familiar with Limecrime's lip stuff but their shadows have impressed me. I wish they'd get their act together concerning all the other stuff because they have quality products imho.
